Fall Festival honoring City Councilor Sal LaMattina

Update: Mayor Walsh will be visting the event at 11:00 am on Sunday morning.

 

Join the Friends of the Charlestown Navy Yard and Charlestown Chamber of Commerce as we honor City Councilor Sal LaMattina for his work representing Charlestown on the Boston City Council.

This is a FREE FAMILY EVENT!

We will have a big screen viewing of the Patriots game and activities for children. 

Light refreshments will be available.

A Sailor's Life & Legacy

Celebrate and honor our nation’s veterans at the USS Constitution Museum by asking yourself, “Is a sailor’s life for you?” Learn about the daily struggles that crew members on board “Old Ironsides” faced during the War of 1812 and how their stories continue to inspire people today. Admission to the Museum is FREE throughout the weekend for all military members and their family.

Highland Street Foundation's Free Fun Friday

Explore the USS Constitution Museum for FREE on August 31 thanks to the generous support of the Highland Street Foundation. The Free Fun Friday program increases access and opportunities for children and families throughout Massachusetts during the summer months. Every Friday, from the end of June through the end of August, multiple cultural venues open their doors for free. Learn more at http://highlandstreet.org/programs/free-fun-fridays.

In the Yard: Boston Navy Yard in World War II

Civilian workers at the Boston Naval Shipyard built over 200 ships, including 14 Fletcher Class destroyers. Learn why their accomplishments were so important for laying the foundation for the Allied victory. This 60-minute walking tour begins at the large flagpole at the base of Pier 1 and concludes with a special visit aboard Cassin Young.

 

In the Yard: Swinging Summer Nights with Victor Martin Aragon

Join Boston National Historical Park this summer for our Swinging Summer Nights Concert Series every Thursday from June 28 through August 2! All concerts will be on the Commandant’s House Lawn and begin at 6 pm. Food will be available for purchase from local food trucks, but feel free to bring a blanket and picnic! Activities will also be available for our younger visitors during the concert.
